Netscape Enterprise Server最初是网景公司于90年代开发的web server，后被Sun收购后改名为Sun Java System Web Server，现在Sun正式宣布Netscape Enterprise Server采用BSD许可证开源。在将近20年后，Apache原来的竞争对手也采用开源许可证让任何人都可自由使用。
