Google将从周三起关闭Google Talk中让第三方软件用户免费收发短信的服务。iPhone上的Infinite SMS、利用XMPP协议的聊天软件等第三方软件将不能再免费向其他手机发送短信。 Google在发表的一份官方声明中称：“Google此举目的仅仅是不想再为用户收发短信买单。尽管Google支持第三方软件，但我们目前不能以这种方式支持用户使用我们的系统。”
